ANKARA - Iran`s Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki has arrived in Ankara on Thursday upon an invitation by his Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara`s Esenboga International Airport, Motaki said that his working visit to Ankara would promote relations between Turkey and Iran.
"Turkey and Iran are two prominent countries in the region. We would exchange ideas on opportunities for cooperation and discuss regional matters," Motaki said.
"Turkey and Iran are two important neighbors of Iraq. Both Turkey and Iran share the same goal of establishing peace and stability in Iraq," Motaki said.
"During my official visit in Ankara, I would inform senior Turkish officials about Iran`s latest nuclear activities," Motaki said.
Reminded about the visit made by U.S. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley to Ankara, Motaki said that "Turkey is a great power and countries can host many different officials."
Motaki and Babacan would meet over a working dinner on Thursday.
The delegations to be co-chaired by Babacan and Motaki would discuss bilateral relations and current issues related to the region.
Aside from meeting Babacan on Friday, Motaki would be received by Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
