BATUMI - Turkish Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ozden Ornek attended on Wednesday the ceremony in which Bulgaria handed over command of the Black Sea Naval Cooperation Task Group (Blackseafor) to Georgia.
Georgian Naval Forces Commander Admiral Gennady Khaidarov took over command of the Blackseafor.
Georgian Chief of Staff Givi Iukuridze said that they aimed to restore security of Black Sea and added that they need a serious cooperation among Black Sea littoral countries in fight against terrorism.
Admiral Ornek departed for Turkey after the ceremony.
The Blackseafor was established on April 2, 2001 by Turkey, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine with the aim to enhance peace and stability in the Black Sea, as well as promoting regional co-operation among the Black Sea littoral states.
