ISTANBUL - Daniel Guiza, the top scorer in Spanish soccer league La Liga as a Real Mallorca player last season, arrived in Istanbul on Monday to join Turkish team Fenerbahce.
More than 100 Fenerbahce fans welcomed Guiza at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport chanting slogans saying, "Guiza ole."
Spanish striker was interviewed by the club's official TV channel at the airport. He said Fenerbahce's Brazilian star Roberto Carlos convinced him to join the Turkish club.
"Roberto Carlos told me that Istanbul and Fenerbahce were great," Guiza said.
The 28-year-old striker will take medical on Tuesday before signing the four-year official contract with Fenerbahce. Later, he will join the team's preseason camp in Austria.
