IZMIR - A team from the western Turkish province of Izmir has won the One Nation Cup 2008 U-15 International Soccer Tournament held in South Africa with the participation of soccer teams from 16 countries.
The Turkish team played against Namibia in the final and won the cup after defating their rivals 1-0.
The Team Izmir was formed by the most talented boys under the age of 15 in the western province upon initiatives of Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu.
The One Nation Cup 2008 was held in Ethekwini, South Africa, from July 6th to 11th. Teams from 16 countries competed in the cup which is considered a test of the country's readiness for the 2010 World Cup.
