Trojan Horse In Istanbul

CANAKKALE - The wooden horse which was used in the movie ''Troy'' was brought from Japan to Istanbul, sources told the A.A on Monday.
The ''Trojan Horse'' of 12 tons is composed of 350 pieces.
The horse was brought from Japan to Istanbul by a vessel of Denmark-based Maersk Sealand Firm.
It will be handed over to the Governor's Office in northwestern province of Canakkale in the coming days.
The Warner Bros Entertainment Japanese Inc. donated the horse to the Canakkale governorate.
The horse is expected to be displayed during the 41st Troy Festival in Canakkale in the coming months.
The ancient city of Troy, known as the center of civilizations, is in Canakkale.
Charles McLaren found in 1822 the ruins of Troy left from Hellenistic and Roman Ilion, at Hisarlik district of Canakkale. The German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann excavated Troy from 1870 to 1890. His theft of treasures from Troy and his damage to the city will always be remembered in Turkish archaeological history. Since 1988 a new German team is working to rebuild Troy by using new and advanced technologies.
