ISTANBUL - Security forces captured two members of the terrorist organization PKK/Kongra-Gel who were responsible for last year's armed attack on a convoy of then Governor Ali Cafer Akyuz of eastern province of Tunceli, sources told the A.A on Monday.
Istanbul Anti-Terror brigade, in a statement, said that an operation was launched in Istanbul against members of the terrorist organization on August 5, 2004. During the operation, two members of the organization and five people who aided and abetted them were captured.
During the interrogation of two members of the organization, it was revealed that they were involved in many illegal acts on behalf of the PKK/Kongra-Gel. It was also unveiled that the two were responsible for the armed attack on convoy of then Governor Ali Cafer Akyuz of eastern province of Tunceli on July 8, 2003 in which two soldiers were killed.
Following their interrogation, the detainees were transferred to Istanbul Prosecutor's Office. They will appear before a judge in a short time.
