Oil Price Soars To New Record High Of 41.65 Dollars In London

LONDON, Aug 9 (AFP) - The Brent oil price shot to a new record high level of 41.65 dollars in late trading in London on Monday on heightened worries about supply after major producer Iraq stopped pumping crude in the south.
Brent North Sea crude oil for September delivery surged 1.02 dollars to 41.65 dollars moments after New York`s light, sweet crude for delivery in September hit an historic peak of 44.95 dollars per barrel in early afternoon deals.
Oil prices soared to fresh record high points as Iraq`s Southern Oil Company stopped pumping crude after Shiite militiamen threatened to attack local oil infrastructure, a spokesman for the state-owned firm said Monday.
