Iraqi President To Visit Turkey Next Week

ANKARA, Aug 9 (AFP) - Iraqi President Ghazi al-Yawar will visit Turkey next week to discuss bilateral issues, including increased security measures for Turkish nationals working in war-torn Iraq, Turkish officials said Monday.
Al-Yawar will be accompanied by four ministers, among them Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Interior Minister Falah al-Naqib, government spokesman Cemil Cicek told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
Increased security measures for Turkish truck drivers and workers in Iraq would be high on the agenda of bilateral talks following the killing of a truck driver by hostage-takers and the adbduction of several truckers, Cicek said.
A Turkish diplomat said the Iraqi delegation was expected to arrive in the middle of next week. He declined to specify dates, saying that Baghdad had requested Ankara not to make the visit public in advance because of security considerations.
