5th World Water Forum To Take Place In Istanbul In March 2009

ISTANBUL - The Fifth World Water Forum will take place in Istanbul between March 16th and 22nd, 2009 under the main theme of "Union of Differences for Water."
The forum would take place at the Sutluce Culture and Congress Center in Istanbul.
Heads of state and government from 15 countries, ministers from 200 countries, and 20,000 mayors and representatives of various non-governmental organizations would attend the Istanbul forum.
World Water Forum's Coordinator Daniel Zimmer said that "in the next two decades, half of the world population would be without potable water."
The first World Water Forum took place in Morocco in 1997 followed by forums in the Netherlands (year 2000), in Japan (year 2003) and Mexico (year 2006).
