D-8 Summit Ends

KUALA LUMPUR - The Sixth Summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) ended in Malaysia's capital city of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
The summit ended with a closing speech by Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah bin Ahmad Badawi.
Turkey was represented at the summit by Foreign Minister Ali Babacan.
Heads of state and government from Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria attended the summit.
The D-8 summit takes place every two years.
In a final declaration, the D-8 said that the Secretariat of the D-8 would permanently settle in Istanbul and that developing relations between D-8 members in all areas carried high importance.
The next D-8 summit would take place in Nigeria in 2010.
