NAJAF, Iraq, Aug 8 (AFP) - Fresh clashes broke out for a fourth night Sunday between Iraqi police and Shiite Muslim militiamen fighting under the banner of radical cleric Moqtada Sadr in the central Iraqi city of Najaf.
Bullets tore into a hotel, home to foreign journalists trapped in the crossfire. A car belonging to one reporter caught fire in the shooting, said an AFP correspondent.
Earlier, two US helicopters fired on the city's vast cemetery, where many militiamen have dug in since the fighting erupted Thursday and not far from the historic city centre.
