ANKARA - Mother of Italian artist Pippa Bacca, who was murdered in Turkey at her peace journey, asked Turkish authorities to nominate her daughter for Nobel Peace Prize.
Elena Manzoni, Giuseppina Pasqualino Di Marineo's (Pippa Bacca) mother, met on Monday with Turkish Culture & Tourism Ministry's deputy undersecretary Kemal Fahir Genc in Ankara.
Manzoni thanked Turkish police for apprehending the suspect in a short time and said her family trusted in Turkish justice and believed that the killer would be punished according to Turkish laws.
Bacca, 33, departed from Milan in March together with a fellow artist Silvia Moro on a "Brides on Tour" journey, with both wearing bridal gowns and hitchhiking from Italy through southern Europe and the Middle East, with the intention of meeting up together at the end in Jerusalem. She was found dead in a forest near Gebze town of northwestern province of Kocaeli on April 12th.
Bacca's mother said they wanted to immortalize the Italian artist and would open a "mobile museum" to display Bacca's works of art.
The museum would set off from Bacca's gallery in Italy to tour the world, she said.
Genc told Manzoni that his ministry could support and take part in "mobile museum" activities.
He recalled that Turkish people strongly condemned the murder of Bacca. He also thanked Bacca's family for reacting to the incident with understanding, noting that such incident could occur anywhere in the world.
