Turkish Cypriot President Receives U.S. Diplomat

LEFKOSA - The Turkish Cypriot president received a senior U.S. diplomat in Lefkosa on Monday.
President Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had a meeting with Daniel Fried, the U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, at his office in Lefkosa, TRNC.
Fried is actually in Cyprus to express the United States' support for efforts aiming to solve Cyprus problem.
The U.S. diplomat will hold a press conference at the Fullbright Center in the buffer zone later on Monday.
Fried is expected to hold talks with Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias; Taye-Brook Zerihoun, special representative of the UN Secretary-General and chief of UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, and Greek Cypriot foreign minister Markos Kyprianou.
