N. Cyprus President Mehmet Ali Talat said: "If we desire a solution in Cyprus, and if there shall be a united Cyprus than surely there shall be single sovereignty and single citizenship".
Indicating that there was no state in the world with two sovereignties or two citizenships, Talat said that how a solution should be implemented in a state in which there should be single sovereignty and single citizenship was going to be discussed in comprehensive negotiations.
Talat added that the sovereignty and citizenship of the new state which was going to be established was being mentioned and asked that it should not been forgotten that the sovereignty in this new state was going to be exercised by Turkish and Greek Cypriots as two equal political partners.
Being reminded that his statement "single sovereignty and single identity" was highly criticised President Talat stressed that the sovereignty in the new state was going to be shared on the basis of partnership and that the Turkish Cypriots were not going to be a minority.
Being asked that Hristofiyas was making statements that he had agreed with him to get rid of being subjected to the motherlands; Talat said that Hristofiyas was lying.
Indicating that he had same view difference with Hristofiyas both when he was the head of CTP and now, Talat said that no such statement had been made in any declaration and that Hristofiyas was making such assaults in order to put him in a difficult position or to worsen his relations with Turkey.
