U.S. Army's Iraqi Abuse Hearing Temporarily Halted

FORT BRAGG, North Carolina, Aug 7 (AFP) - A special US Army hearing to decide whether Private Lynndie England, photographed holding a leash around the neck of a naked Iraqi detainee, will be court martialled was temporarily halted Saturday.
The halt in proceedings against England, 21, was ordered by judge Colonel Denise Arn in order for her to review a request by England's lawyers to call more witnesses.
"We'll recovene as soon as possible," Arn told the military court at Fort Bragg.
"It is my intent to complete this investigation as soon as possible," she said.
However, Arn did not set a date for the special hearing to continue.
England, who was also photographed smiling and posing for the camera at Abu Ghraib prison beside a line of hooded Iraqi inmates masturbating, sat impassively in court Saturday.
