Turkish Foreign Minister Attends Reception Marking U.S. Independence Day

ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan attended on Thursday a reception to mark the U.S. Independence Day in the American embassy in Ankara.
Delivering a speech at the reception, Babacan said the cooperation between Turkey the U.S. was of strategic importance for peace and stability in Turkey`s region, adding that the two countries shared many values such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
Babacan also said Turkey was the closest ally of the U.S. in the European-Atlantic region, citing an overlap of foreign policy agendas as well as regional and national interests.
