LEFKOSA - President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Mehmet Ali Talat and leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Demetris Christofias got together Tuesday for a meeting at the buffer zone in Lefkosa with the aim of starting comprehensive solution negotiations as part of the March 21st agreement.
Talat`s meeting with Christofias is taking place at the residence of Taye-Brook Zerihoun, special representative of the UN Secretary-General and chief of UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, at the buffer zone in Cyprus.
The two sides in Cyprus have different expectations from Tuesday`s meeting between the leaders.
Turkish Cypriots said that the goal of Tuesday`s meeting was to start "comprehensive solution negotiations" while the Greek Cypriots said that they would work towards "clarifying the foundation of negotiations".
Talat and Christofias will go over the works of working groups and technical committees that began activities in Cyprus on April 21st.
