KABUL, Aug 6 (AFP) - Eight soldiers with the US-led coalition in Afghanistan were wounded in two separate attacks carried out by insurgents, the US Army said in a statement Friday.
The statement did not specify the nationality of the casualties in the two incidents, which both occurred in southern Zabul province.
It said "five coalition soldiers were injured when close to 10 insurgents attacked their 10-vehicle convoy with rocket-propelled grenades" in the first incident about 34 kilometres (21 miles) east of Deh Chopan, in northern Zabul, at about 7:00 am (0230 GMT) Friday.
In the second attack at around 1:00 pm, 62 kilometres north of Qalat, three more soldiers were wounded by the explosion of what seemed to be a booby trap positioned near their Humvee, the statement said.
Two of the injured soldiers were taken to hospital at the Kandahar air base. They were in a stable condition and would be transferred to Germany for further treatment, it said.
The six other soldiers were able to resume their duties.
