Death Toll From Russian Helicopter Crash Rises To 16

MOSCOW, Aug 6 (AFP) - Sixteen people were killed when a transport helicopter crashed in a forest in western Siberia, according to a revised death toll from Russia's emergencies ministry on Friday.
The Mi-8 helicopter was carrying three crew and 13 passengers, most of them firefighters and forestry workers, when it crashed in the region of Tyumen on Thursday and burst into flames.
Officials had initially said 15 people on board had been killed.
Early indications suggest an engine problem was to blame.
The Mi-8 is a twin-propellor helicopter designed in 1960 and produced on a mass scale. Although generally considered reliable, inadequate maintenance of the ageing fleet has led to a number of Mi-8s crashing in recent years.
