ANKARA - Turkey`s economic growth will rise as of 2009, economy bureaucrats said on Friday.
Turkey`s growth rate would rise gradually between 2009 and 2011 after global risks were eliminated, a statement released after a meeting on economy held under the chairmanship of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
"Turkey`s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in 2008 will be close to that of 2007," the statement said.
The statement also said that the hike in energy and basic food products negatively affected the inflation figure in the country.
In the statement, the bureaucrats said that supply shocks and possible perceptions of ongoing uncertainties continued to risk the inflation rate.
"Turkey will go on implementing its financial and monetary policies cautiously and in coordination in order to minimize the inflationist pressure in the entire world," the statement said.
The statement said that bureaucrats also debated economic and social development in the Southeastern Anatolia Project, Eastern Anatolia Project and Konya Plain Project.
The bureaucrats also reviewed how 2.3 billion new Turkish liras (YTL) necessary for implementation of the above mentioned prior projects would be spent.
