ANKARA - Turkish officials stated on Friday that Turkey displayed a high budget performance and a successful fiscal discipline during the first five months of 2008.
"Turkish economy`s vulnerability stemming from external shocks decreased remarkably thanks to strong reserves and the improvement achieved in the level and structure of public debts," said a statement released after a meeting on Turkish economy, presided by Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the capital Ankara.
The statement also said that the flow of foreign direct investments in Turkey would continue thanks to the decisive and stable economic policies adopted by the government, reformatory activities, improvement in the macroeconomic structure, progress in the privatization program, as well as purchases and mergers in the private sector.
