Die To Announce Core Inflation As Of 2005

ANKARA - ''The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) will start to announce figures of core inflation, starting as of next year,'' Chairman Omer Demir announced on Friday.
Demir told A.A correspondent that figures of core inflation would be necessary for inflation planning, stating that Central Bank asked for the announcement of core inflation figures.
He said a joint study group would be set up on the issue.
''This (the core inflation) would be an inflation figure from where temporary elements are eliminated. Earlier, private manufacturing industry's figures were described as the core inflation, but core inflation is not only the manufacturing industry,'' Demir noted.
-NEW INFLATION BASKET-
Demir also said they would determine the goods that would be included and excluded from the new inflation basket, pointing out that they would complete the study within 1-2 months and announce the goods in the basket to the public.
Demir said in the new period, ''Producers Prices Index'' would replace the actual wholesale price index.
DIE Chairman also said they would announce unemployment figures in regional basis by the end of the year.
