ANKARA - Number of foreign tourists who visited Turkey in the first five months of the year rose 15 percent to 7.3 million, Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism stated on Monday.
According to the statement of the Ministry, number of visitors from the Organization for the Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD)-member countries rose by 15.11 percent and number of visitors from east European countries climbed by 14.99 percent.
German tourists topped the list of foreigners who preferred Turkey for their vacation. They accounted for 17.51 percent of total number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey. They were followed by Russian, British, Bulgarian, Iranian, Dutch, Georgian, French, Ukrainian and Greek tourists.
