GAZA CITY, Aug 4 (AFP) - A Palestinian teenager was shot dead Wednesday in the northern Gaza Strip town of Jabaliya during a major operation by Israeli troops, medical sources said.
Kassem Al Mutawaq, 18, was shot dead by soldiers manning tanks inside the center of the town, witnesses said.
Hospital sources said that a total of 17 Palestinians had been wounded on Wednesday during the latest phase of the five-week operation which is designed to put an end to the firing of rockets from northern Gaza into southern Israel.
The latest death brought the overall toll since the September 2000 start of the Palestinian intifada, or uprising, to 4,216, including 3,219 Palestinians and 926 Israelis.
