ANKARA - Afghan Agriculture & Livestock Minister Seyyed Hussain Anwari met on Wednesday Turkish Agriculture & Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu.
After the meeting Guclu told reporters that Turkey is ready to provide all kinds of technical and manpower support to Afghanistan.
Guclu reminded that although friendly relations between Turkey and Afghanistan have their roots in the past, the relations were suspended between 1977 and 2001 due to negative political developments in Afghanistan. He reminded that Turkey has undertaken an active role in reconstruction of Afghanistan after 2001. He added that his ministry started two projects on animal husbandry and seed and vegetable production. ''Those projects were successful'' he noted.
On the other hand, Afghan Minister Anwari said that Afghan people wanted to further develop relations with Turkey.
Expressing his pleasure over Turkey's support in reconstruction of Afghanistan and assuring security in his country, Anwari said that developments after 1970s hampered agriculture and stock raising in Afghanistan, stressing that they would like to take advantage from Turkey's experiences on this matter.
Upon questions of reporters about the security of Turkish workers in Afghanistan, Anwari said that nearly 50 Turkish companies are active in Afghanistan and added that there is no negative attitude towards Turkish workers.
Anwari will depart from Turkey on August 6.
