Six Dead As Light Aircraft Slams Into Home

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug 3 (AFP) - Six people were killed Tuesday when a light aircraft slammed into a home in an affluent suburb of Austin, Texas, aviation authorities said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said all the fatalities were on board the small plane, and the cause of the crash was under investigation.
"We think probably it (the plane) was landing, but it might have been taking off," said FAA spokesman John Clabes.
Three people were inside the house when it was struck a little before 12:00 pm (1700 GMT), but they were not injured, witness Ellen Roberts told the Austin news channel, News 8 Austin.
"They saw the plane coming and it hit into the backside of their house," Roberts said. "It burst into a huge fireball."
Firefighters were still working to douse the blaze at the two-story house in Lakeway, a community 23 kilometers (14 miles) northwest of the Texan state capitol.
