BAGHDAD, Aug 3 (AFP) - Neighbours of Iraq's deputy interior minister say they are besieged by his entourage of about 80 policemen deployed for his protection, a Baghdad daily reported Tuesday.
Al-Furat said it had received an e-mail from the Baghdad neighbours of Major General Hikmat Mussa complaining that they felt vulnerable and trapped by the security measures.
"If he fears for his life, we are even more fearful," said the e-mail. "We want to sell or rent out our homes and move out, but who in their right mind would come in our place?"
Hundreds of Iraqis have been killed in a wave of car bombings and attacks that have hit Baghdad hardest and targeted mostly the police, security forces and representatives of the caretaker government of Prime Minister Iyad Allawi.
