ANKARA, Aug 3 (AFP) - Two moderate earthquakes measuring 5.0 and 4.3 on the Richter scale on Tuesday rocked the popular holiday region of Mugla in southwestern Turkey, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The epicenter of the bigger tremor, which struck at 4:11 p.m. (1311 GMT), was in the Gokova Gulf in the Aegean Sea, the Istanbul-based Kandilli seismological institute said.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties after the quake, Mugla Governor Huseyin Aksoy told Anatolia news agency.
The quake was preceded by a 4.3-strong tremor at 8:33 a.m. (0533 GMT), whose epicenter was in the town of Bodrum, one of the country's most popular resorts.
Mugla province welcomes millions of foreign visitors every summer.
Earthquakes are frequent in Turkey, which is crossed by several major fault lines.
One person was killed and five others injured last week when a quake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale shook the eastern town of Dogubeyazit.
