ANTALYA - The 15th Aspendos International Opera & Ballet Festival organized by the Turkey's State Opera & Ballet, has begun with a concert of Italian tenor Nicola Martinucci.
Ankara State Opera & ballet accompanied the Italian tenor in the concert at the ancient theatre.
The State Opera & Ballet will perform Verdi's Nabucco on June 10th and Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake on June 13th.
Sofia National Opera & Ballet will be one of this year's foreign guests. The Bulgarian group will take stage in the ancient theatre with Puccini's Turandot.
On June 20th, Ankara State Opera & Ballet will perform Mozart's the Abduction from Seraglio.
Istanbul State Opera & Ballet will stage Verdi's Aida on June 24th and Minkus' La Bayadere on June 27th.
Italian Francesco Cilea's Municipality Theatre of Reggio Calabria will be the other guest of the festival. The group will greet the audience with Bellini's Norma.
The festival, which was dedicated to legendary Turkish opera singers Aydin Gun and Leyla Gencer, who passed away recently, will end on June 3rd with a concert of the Harmonic Band of the Turkish Armed Forces.
