Turkey's Efforts For Solution Of Israel-Syria Dispute Received Praise In Mediterranean Forum

ALGIERS - The Mediterranean Forum (FOROMED) foreign ministers` meeting where Turkey was represented by State Minister Mustafa Said Yazicioglu ended in Algeria on Friday.
A joint communique was adopted at the meeting. The foreign ministers` of participating countries extended support to Turkey`s efforts for the solution of the dispute between Syria and Israel.
The communique expressed hope that recent talks between Israel and Syria, --carried out with the mediatorship of Turkey-- would result in line with principles laid down in the Madrid conference.
The participants discussed recent developments in the Middle East and the Mediterranean, and held high-level talks ahead of the "Barcelona Process-Union for the Mediterranean" meeting to take place in Paris, France on July 13th.
The Mediterranean Forum is a platform of cooperation which was founded in 1994 by eleven Mediterranean countries including Algeria, Morocco, Spain, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Greece, Tunisia and Turkey.
The presidency is rotated between the Mediterranean and EU countries. Turkey assumed the FOROMED presidency during the period of 2002-2003.
