Bush Nominates James Jeffrey For Ambassadorship In Ankara

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. President George Bush nominated his Deputy National Security Advisor James Jeffrey for ambassadorship in Ankara.
Jeffrey needs Senate approval for getting assigned to Ankara as the new U.S. ambassador.
Jeffrey served in Turkey for three times in the past and speaks Turkish fluently.
James Jeffrey entered the U.S. Department of State in 1977 after serving in the U.S. military in Vietnam and Germany.
Jeffrey earlier served in Kuwait, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Germany, Albania and Iraq as a U.S. diplomat.
He served as an advisor on Iraq to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and later became a deputy advisor to President Bush.
Aside from English and Turkish, Jeffrey speaks French and German.
