Convicted Spanish Killers Get 66 More Years In Jail

MADRID, Aug 2 (AFP) - Two convicted Basque seperatist killers were each given an additional 66 years in jail for the attempted murder of the former head of the supreme court, judicial sources said Monday.
They already are serving sentences totaling more than 2,000 years for a 1986 terrorist attack in Madrid in which 12 Civil Guards were killed and other crimes.
Idoia Lopez Riano, known as the Tigress, and Santiago Arrospide Sarasola, were found guily of attempting to assassinate Antonio Hernandez Gil in May, 1986 by firing on his automobile with a grenade launcher.
They were later arrested in France and extradited -- Lopez Riano in May, 2001 and Arrospide Sarasola in December, 2000.
Arrospide Sarasola, whose alias was Santi Potros, is the former head of the military wing of the separatist organization ETA.
The maximum length of time they will have to serve in Spanish prisons is 30 years.
