United States Defines Turkey's Top Court Decision As Internal Issue

WASHINGTON - The United States defined the decision of Turkey`s top court regarding headscarf as a domestic matter of Turkey.
The U.S. Department of State said that whether or not to wear a headscarf was the personal preference of women, when commenting on the recent decision of the top court annulling the constitutional amendment which allowed headscarf in universities.
The United States was supporting the religious freedom right, to which democratic societies were expected to respect, Chase Beamer, a spokesman of the department, told reporters in Washington D.C.
