Turkish Deputy Premier Says High Court Decision On Headscarf And Ak Party Closure Case Are Different Issues

ANKARA - Turkish Deputy Premier Cemil Cicek said Thursday that a decision of Turkey`s high court annulling a constitutional amendment which allowed headscarf in universities, and a lawsuit filed to close the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party were "two different issues."
"Let`s not compare apples with pears," Cicek said.
The Constitutional Court in Turkey ruled to annul a constitutional amendment which allowed female students wear headscarves in universities.
