ANKARA - Turkey`s top court, which cancelled the constitutional amendment lifting the headscarf ban at universities, took its decision by 9 votes against 2, officials said on Thursday.
According to Article 149 of the Constitution, the Constitutional Court shall take decisions by absolute majority. The decision of annulment of constitutional amendments shall be taken by three-fifths majority.
Officials said that 9 members of the Constitutional Court voted in favor, while 2 members voted against the annulment of the constitutional amendment lifting the ban on wearing headscarves at universities on Thursday.
