Turkish N.G.O. Executive Urges Eu To Boost Dialogue With Mediterranean Chambers Of Commerce

BRUSSELS - An NGO executive said on Thursday that European Union (EU) should boost dialogue and cooperation with Mediterranean chambers of commerce.
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) Chairman Murat Yalcintas, who was elected the President of the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) in 2007, met executives of EU and Association of European Chambers of Trade (Eurochambers).
Yalcintas said ASCAME, established 25 years ago, has 200 members in 21 countries. "ASCAME has turned into a strong and influential organization connecting coasts of the Mediterranean."
"It is the fundamental priority of the ASCAME to encourage trade in the Mediterranean through tangible and sustainable common projects in relations with the EU," Yalcintas said.
"Mediterranean; connecting Europe, Asia and Africa; may become the center of world trade. Establishing cross-border partnerships is the way to get more share from trade in globalizing world," he said.
