ANKARA - Turkey`s Minister of the Interior, Besir Atalay said Thursday that Supreme Court`s decision outlawing unrestricted authorization to communication monitoring, was important for them.
Speaking to reporters on his way to a meeting in Ankara said it was important for them to act within the boundaries of the law.
"Therefore I respect their decision," said Atalay.
When a criminal court in Ankara authorized National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and gendarmerie for monitoring all call, SMS and email traffic, Justice Ministry objected to gendarmerie`s authorization. Case was discussed at Supreme Court of Appeals and the court ruled on Wednesday that this authorization was illegal.
