ANKARA - Turkish Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Thursday that the decision made by Supreme Court of Appeals --overruling another court decision which allowed gendarmery forces to tap all communication in the country-- would cover also National Intelligence Agency and police organization.
When a criminal court in Ankara authorized National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and gendarmerie to tap all phone, SMS and email traffic, Justice Ministry objected to gendarmerie's authorization. Case was discussed at Supreme Court of Appeals and the court ruled on Wednesday that this authorization was illegal.
"I think that decision by Supreme Court of Appeals was quite extensive. My personal view is that the decision will cover National Intelligence Organization and police, too," Simsek told reporters.
