The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is set to hold a meeting on "the functioning of democratic institutions in Turkey" on June 26, 2008 during the Assembly's forthcoming plenary session.
The proposal to hold an urgent debate on this topic, made at the initiative of the heads of the Assembly's five political groups, was approved by the PACE Bureau during its recent meeting in Stockholm on May 29.
However, the final decision on the agenda will be set by vote by the Assembly itself on the first day of the plenary session.
