Environmental Activist Expects International Ramification From Turkey's Kyoto Accession

ANKARA - An environmental activist said Tuesday that a prospective Turkish ratification of the Kyoto protocol could make a big impact in the international community.
"Turkey`s accession could even create a bigger impact than Australia`s accession did in 2007," said Sibel Sezer Eralp, Turkey director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe.
A Turkish government spokesman said on Monday that the government "adopted in principle the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol."
Eralp also said Turkey`s accession would make significant contributions to the international efforts for the international climate change regime afte 2012.
