ISTANBUL - Turkish tennis player Marsel Ilhan has achieved a great success as the rising star of Turkish tennis. He will compete in the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, the third leg of Grand Slam tournaments.
Ilhan will play against the world`s best players during the tournament in England in June.
Ilhan was ranked the 1400th in the ATP list in 2007. He participated in 11 international tournaments and his current ATP position became 227th. He became the first Turkish tennis player ever in the ATP`s top 400 ranking. Ilhan will be the first Turkish tennis player competing in a grand slam tournament.
The four Grand Slam tournaments are the most important tennis events of the year in terms of world ranking points, tradition, prize-money awarded, and public attention. They are: Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open.
