PARIS - A renowned Turkish poet and the traditional Ottoman music were promoted within the framework of a "Spring Festival" in the French capital, Paris on Friday.
The annual "Paris Spring Festival" (Festival - Le Printemps de Paris) was inaugurated on May 9th this year.
French actor Mathieu Chardet, accompanied by Turkish pianist Ayser Vancin, read several poems by Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet within the scope of the festival held at "Maison d`Europe et d`Orient" on Friday.
The actor read Hikmet`s poems with peace and friendship theme with a theatrical performance.
A band called "Divani", comprising of Turkish, Greek and French musicians, gave a concert during which they played samples from Ottoman music as well.
"Paris Spring Festival", held in the spring period annually, brings together musicians, poets and actors from the countries of immigrants residing in the French capital. The festival is supported by the French Culture Ministry and Paris Municipality.
This year`s festival will end on June 7th.
