Türkiye First to Arrive at Euro 2008 Base in Geneva

Türkiye became the first national team to check into their Euro 2008 headquarters, reaching Geneva on 1 June 2008 under a heavy police escort. The squad settled into La Reserve, a hotel on the banks of Lake Leman that will serve as their base throughout the group stage.

Türkiye are placed in Group A and face three matches over nine days. Their European Championship campaign opens against Portugal on 7 June, followed by a fixture against Switzerland four days later. The group concludes on 15 June against the Czech Republic.

The other Group A nations were also converging on the region that weekend. Portugal were due to reach their base in Neuchatel on Sunday evening, while Romania were scheduled to arrive in St. Gallen the following day.
