Turkish Premier Warns EU's "Double Standards" Wearing Down Support For Union

ISTANBUL - Turkish premier re-issued a warning on Thursday that public support for the European Union in Turkey had been eroding due to what he called as "double standards" over his country`s membership bid.
"The Union requests Turkey to do things that have never been put on the table for other member or candidate countries, and we are observing that double standards are imposed on Turkey," Erdogan told an Istanbul meeting of the European Foundation Center.
"Once this political attitude is removed, Turkey will take its deserved place in the EU," Erdogan also said.
The Turkish premier re-iterated commitment for EU accession and said that Turkey expected the same willingness from member countries as well.
