ANKARA - The atmosphere of the city of Naples, which is an important cultural and historical center of Italy, will be brought to the Turkish capital of Ankara through a series of activities to be organized by the Italian embassy.
Turkish art-lovers will have the opportunity to watch 4 concerts and visit a photography exhibition thanks to a project called "Maggio Della Musica, Napoli" developed by the Italian Cultural Institute of the embassy.
The concerts will be held with the support of Turkey`s State Opera and Ballet (DOB), Turkish State Theatres (DT) and Bilkent University`s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts.
Speaking at an introductory press conference in Ankara on Thursday, Sadi Erdogan, DOB`s deputy Director General, said that his organization was happy to host such an event which would bring the Neapolitan culture to the Turkish capital.
Antonino Maggiore from the Italian embassy said during the conference that the series of activities to be held in Ankara aimed to combine the magical atmosphere of music with the historical roots of Naples.
Within the framework of "Maggio Della Musica, Napoli", Italian pianist Sandro de Palma will give a concert on May 30th at Bilkent University.
"Giuliana Soscia-Pino Jodice Italian Tango Quartet" and "Savinio Quartet" will display performances at Buyuk Tiyatro on May 30th and May 31st respectively.
The "Maggio della Musica Orchestra" will be on stage on June 1st.
Italian photographer Angelo Antolino`s works, which were taken during a classical music festival in Naples, will be exhibited in Ankara as well.
Naples is a historic city in southern Italy, the capital of the Campania region and the province of Naples. The city is noted for its rich history, art, culture and gastronomy, playing an important role throughout much of its existence; it is over 2,500 years old.
