ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc called on parliament to hold a special session at 15.00 local time on August 4, 2004.
Sources told A.A correspondent on Thursday that the Parliament Speaker's Office ruled yesterday that the Republican People's Party's (CHP) request to hold an extraordinary session to debate a censure motion against Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim conformed to Article 93 of the Constitution and Article 7 of the Parliamentary By-law.
Later, Arinc called on parliament to hold a special session at 15.00 local time on August 4, 2004.
If the sufficient number of deputies (184) is reached, the CHP's censure motion against Yildirim will be debated.
A total of 276 votes are necessary to dismiss a minister.
The CHP submitted the request to the Parliament Speaker's Office after last week's high-speed train crash in northwestern province of Sakarya killing 38 people and injuring many others.
