ANKARA - Turkey`s Main Opposition leader Deniz Baykal said Wednesday that security forces bugged the office of his party`s Secretary General and serviced excerpts of his conversations to a daily.
Republican People`s Party (CHP) Chairman Baykal held a press conference at HQs of his party on bugging allegations.
"Technological capabilities are systematically being used against a section of our citizens by certain gangs that are nested in the state," he said .
Baykal said the contents of a dialogue that took place between two people in the office of CHP SG Onder Sav last Friday was published word by word in the headlines of a newspaper on Monday and said this was no ordinary phone-tapping incident but was bugging.
He said constitutional democratic rights were violated by the security forces which were entitled to protect those very rights.
CHP leader said this was a grave incident where the close relation between the said structuring in the state and the newspaper was caught in action. He said human rights , democratic rights and freedoms did not bear any meaning for the current government.
Baykal said they would carry the issue to the Parliament floor in their speeches and also give a censure motion about PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the General Assembly on the issue.
