ANKARA - President Abdullah Gul who will pay a formal visit to Japan between June 3rd and 8th, will be Turkey`s first President to visit this country.
A large delegation of businessmen will accompany Gul during the visit which aims at enhancing commercial relations.
Gul will meet Japanese Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Japanese Parliament`s Upper House President Satsuki Eda and Speaker of Japanese House of Representatives Yohei Kono.
Gul will also meet executives of Japanese companies which have already invested in Turkey. He will participate in Turkey-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo as well as Investment Forum in Osaka.
Gul will proceed to Kushimoto town (where Turkish Ertugrul frigate sank) on June 7th, and attend a memorial ceremony at Ertugrul Martyr Monument.
He will proceed to Osaka and depart from Japan on June 8th.
During the visit Turkish officials will brief Japanese businessmen on investment opportunities in Turkey and Turkish Businessmen will be informed on business opportunities in Japan.
Turkish officials will also discuss with their counterparts ways to increase the number of Japanese tourists visiting Turkey.
Turkey`s preparations to celebrate 2010 as `year of Japan` will also be assessed during the visit and Emperor Akihito will be invited to visit Turkey on that year.
