ANKARA - A Russian company raised daily natural gas supply to Turkey on Tuesday.
Russia's Gazprom firm raised the amount of natural gas transferred to Turkey a day to 30 million cubic meters, the spokesman of the company said.
Gazprom's spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov said in a written statement that Gazprom decided to send additional natural gas to Turkey after a blast at Iran-Turkey pipeline on Monday.
Around 22 million cubic meters of natural gas was transported to Turkey via the Blue Stream pipeline a day before Tuesday.
Gazprom is the world's largest gas company basically focused on geological exploration, production, transmission, storage, processing and marketing of gas and other hydrocarbons. The state owns a 50.002 per cent controlling stake in Gazprom. Gazprom's mission is to provide effective and well-balanced gas supply to Russian customers and to safely implement long-term gas export contracts. It brought to full capacity the Blue Stream gas pipeline going from Russia to Turkey.
The Blue Stream is a major trans-Black Sea gas pipeline that carries natural gas from Russia into Turkey. By 2010, Blue Stream is expected to be operating at full capacity, delivering 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Total length of the pipeline is 1213 km.
