BRUSSELS - Turkey-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting started on Tuesday with the participation of over 40 representatives from the European Parliament and the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
The meeting discussed certain shortcomings and difficulties of a Customs Union agreement which was signed between Turkey and the EU in 1996.
The Turkish side said despite the agreement had yielded favorable results both for Turkey and the Union, boosting the trade volume to as high as 100 billion euro, certain important problems still awaited solution, such as Turkey`s free trade agreements with the third countries.
